KTGR Athlete Spotlight: Vernell Holt Jr.

KTGR is honoring an outstanding local high school athlete each week!

This week’s Athlete Spotlight features Battle junior guard Vernell Holt Jr. Last week, Holt helped the Spartans to wins over two state top-10 ranked opponents. Holt scored 14 points and added three assists in the Spartans’ win over Parkview, and against Kickapoo he went off for 22 points and five assists while defending the opponent’s leading scorer.

“Vernell has developed into so much more than a great player for us, he has become a leader!” said Battle boys basketball coach Ben Pallardy. “Vernell has exemplified the growth of our program after starting as a freshman to becoming one of the best guards in the state as a junior. Each year he has improved, and we could not be happier to have him as a teammate!”

Battle boys basketball is currently ranked #3 in Class 6 and is taking part in the Southern Boone Classic this week.
