KTGR Athlete Spotlight: Jake Swain

KTGR is highlighting an outstanding area high school athlete each week!

This week features Father Tolton tennis freshman Jake Swain. Swain is the leading scorer for the Trailblazers with 30 combined singles and doubles wins this season.

“He can execute seemingly impossible shots to get the ball back and never gives up on a point,” Father Tolton tennis coach Tricia Vogt said.

Last week against Helias, Jake’s match was the last match to end as well as the deciding match. Everyone gathered around to witness Jake perform a valiant comeback that secured Father Tolton’s first ever team victory against Helias. “That day will be remembered by the huge crowd that was present, Jeff City and Columbians alike,” Vogt said.

Jake and his doubles partner Joe Whorley also placed 2nd in districts last week to secure themselves a shot at sectionals this Saturday.
