KTGR is highlighting an outstanding area high school athlete each week!
This week features Father Tolton junior middle distance runner Elyse Wilmes. At the Class 4 state meet in Jefferson City last week, Wilmes won the individual state title in the 800m and 1600m races. She also anchored Tolton’s 4x800m relay team that also won the state title.
“Elyse always competes her best when the competition heats up,” says Tolton track and field coach Rebecca Wilmes. “Her confidence and energy in the big meets spreads through our Father Tolton girls team and helps raise the level of performances all around! She is a great leader on our team!”
The Trailblazers girls track and field team finished in second place in the Class 4 team standings.
