Mizzou running back Ahmad Hardy is set to leave a Hattiesburg, Miss. hospital where he’s been recovering from a gunshot wound suffered this weekend.
ABC 17 reports that Hardy is returning to Columbia. He’s been in the hospital since Sunday following a shooting in Laurel, Miss. that occurred after a rap concert at a biker club. Hardy was one of two victims wounded in the shooting.
Hardy was shot in the upper leg and taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery. Mizzou Athletics made a statement Monday that he was in stable condition.
There are still no updates on Hardy’s timeline to return to football activities, however ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that Hardy will begin rehabbing immediately with the goal of being ready for the 2026 Mizzou football season.
Hardy was a consensus All-American at running back last season and was a Doak Walker Award finalist. He set the Mizzou single-season rushing record with 1,649 rushing yards last season.
