Mizzou’s head football coach has locked in a new contract with the university.
Mizzou athletics announced Thursday that Eli Drinkwitz has agreed to a six-year contract extension with an average annual salary of $10.75 million. This is Drinkwitz’s fourth contract extension since joining Mizzou in December 2019, and will keep him signed through the 2031 season. The UM Board of Curators approved the contract extension on Wednesday afternoon.
“My family and I believe deeply in the vision and leadership from our administration and are incredibly happy to continue calling Columbia our home,” Drinkwitz said. “I’m grateful for the unwavering support of President Mun Choi, the Board of Curators, led by Chair Todd Graves and incoming Vice Chair Bob Blitz, along with our athletics director Laird Veatch. We’re also incredibly thankful for the support of our generous donors and NIL partners. I’m committed to continuing our work to build Mizzou into a championship program.”
The new deal keeps Drinkwitz at Mizzou during a college football hiring cycle that includes openings at several power conference programs, including LSU, Auburn, Florida and Penn State.
Drinkwitz has an overall record of 45-28 at Mizzou in six seasons and has gone 28-9 over the last three years. Mizzou football closes the 2025 regular season with a road game at Arkansas on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
