KTGR and MU Health Care Sports Medicine are highlighting an outstanding local high school athlete each week!
This week features Columbia Independent tennis senior Lily Thies. Last weekend, Lily and her doubles partner captured first place at the Boonville Lady Pirate Open in #1 doubles. Lily has started the season undefeated at 5-0 in singles and 9-0 in doubles.
“Lily has led the CIS girls tennis team as a captain for the past three years and continues to excel on the court (volleyball and tennis) and in the classroom,” said CIS tennis coach Laurel Owen. “Lily is the definition of earned trust and respect. She consistently shows up and works hard, demonstrates high character, and is reliable. She’s a huge asset to our team and will leave big shoes to fill when she graduates.”
CIS girls tennis is 3-2 to start the season. They will host Father Tolton on Thursday.
