COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Big 12 garnered 57 pre-allocations for the 2024 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship, the committee announced Thursday, Feb. 29. The conference received the second-most allocations for any Division I conference behind the Big 10 with 85.

Each qualifying tournament was awarded pre-allocations to the national tournament based on regular season performance by conference wrestlers through Feb. 26. The pre-allocations are determined by a sliding scale of the three standards — win percentage, coaches’ rank, and RPI ranking. Additionally, qualification spots are determined by the number of wrestlers above the base winning percentage of .700, top 30 coaches’ ranking and top 30 RPI ranking until reaching the maximum of 29 wrestlers per weight class.

For each wrestler that reaches the threshold in at least two of the three categories, his conference tournament is awarded a qualifying spot in that weight class. NCAA championship spots for each qualifying event are awarded at conference tournaments based solely on place finish.

After all the conference tournaments have concluded, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee will meet in person to select the remaining 47 at-large qualifiers, which will be announced on Mar. 12, while brackets and seeding will be announced on NCAA.com at 8 p.m. on Mar. 13. All weight classes will consist of 33 wrestlers.

Last season, Missouri qualified nine of 10 wrestlers at the Big 12 Tournament, with one earning an at-large bid. Brackets and seeds for the 2024 conference tournament will be announced on Monday, Mar. 4.

Additionally, the Tigers have all 10 starters ranked in the third and final NCAA coaches rankings, with five in the top 10 of their respective weight classes.
