COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri wrestling team mourns the loss of alumnus Jim Hardy (1985-87).

Hardy, a middle school industrial arts teacher in Warren County R-III School District, was named the Marshall Esteppe Most Outstanding Freshman award in 1985. He also led the team in major decisions (4) during the 1985-86 season and falls (10) in the 1986-87 campaign. Moreover, the Tiger was a Big 8 runner-up in 1987.

“Jim Hardy will always be remembered for his gentle nature and willingness to help others,” said former head coach Wes Roper. “He was a Big 8 runner-up at 177 pounds for the MU Tigers. Our prayers go out to the Hardy family during this difficult time.”

Former teammate and All-American Craig Martin added, “Jim Hardy was a great teammate, leader, educator, coach and good friend! Everyone loved Jim and his laid-back, fun-loving personality. He will be missed by his teammates. RIP.”

Our condolences go out to the Hardy family and all who knew him during this time. There will be a celebration of life in February. However, no date has been set at this time.
