STILLWATER, Okla. – The No. 8-ranked University of Missouri wrestling team lost a close dual to No. 11 Oklahoma State 16-17 Sunday, Feb. 5. The match was tied 16-16 after the final bout, however OSU won based off criteria.
Redshirt junior Brock Mauller put Missouri on the board, claiming a 3-2 decision at 149 pounds. Sophomore Keegan O’Toole extended his bonus point streak to four matches, winning a major decision (14-4) at 165 pounds. The bout of the night went to redshirt junior Peyton Mocco who upset the No. 5-ranked Dustin Plott with a 4-3 decision at 184 pounds.
Redshirt junior Zach Elam and redshirt sophomore Noah Surtin both earned wins at 285 and 125 pounds, respectively. Elam grabbed the 4-2 decision, while Surtin used riding time to get the 2-1 decision.
MATCH NOTES
- Missouri’s all-time record against Oklahoma State is now 7-44-1.
- Keegan has now won 41 consecutive matches dating back to the 2021 NCAA Championships. Furthermore, the sophomore has earned bonus points in his last four bouts.
- Mocco pulls off the upset over No. 5-ranked Dustin Plott with a 6-4 decision. The redshirt junior now has 16 wins, which leads the team. Additionally, he has a .842 win percentage on the season.
