Women’s Golf Third After Day One of Westbrook

In a tight field, sophomore Melanie Walker led the Tigers, finishing tied for third after day one with an eight-under 136. After an opening 18 holes of 70, Walker tallied a career-best round of 66. Walker’s second round is tied for the fourth-lowest score in a single round in school history. The round featured a clean scorecard with six birdies and zero bogeys during the 18 holes of play.

Winnie Ng (139) carded nine birdies on the day to improve the Tigers place on the leaderboard and keep herself in the top-20. Her five-under tally has her in 17th place overall with her opening-round 68 just one stroke shy of her career-best tally. Emily Staples (142) finished two under-par, while Fleur van Beek (145) and Ffion Tynan (148) rounded out the total team score at 560.

The Tigers fired a 280 (-8) as a team each round, tied for the 10th-best round in the school’s record book.

Competing as an individual, Addie Dobson also carded her first round under-par for the Tigers, tallying a one-under 71 after an opening round 73 to end even on the day. 

The final round begins at 9:30 a.m. CT on Monday morning for Mizzou in Arizona.
