Women’s Golf Opens Spring Campaign in Arizona

The Missouri women’s golf team is back in action for the first time since the fall season, competing at the Westbrook Invitational, starting on Sunday.

TOURNAMENT INFO
The tournament is slated for Sunday and Monday with the schools opening the action on Sunday morning with a 9:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. The teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Sunday before wrapping up the tournament with 18 holes on Monday.

Joining the Tigers at the tournament are No. 32 South Florida, No. 40 Kansas, No. 43 Colorado State, Iowa, Kansas State, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Florida, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Sam Houston, UNC-Wilmington and Wisconsin.

The tournament will be held at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona, measuring 6,248 yards on a par-72 course.

FALL RECAP
The Tigers competed in four tournaments during the fall season, placing in the top 10 at three of the four tournaments. In the Sam Golden Invitational, Mizzou’s overall team score of 843 marked the second-best in school history.

Sophomore Melanie Walker led the team with a 72-stroke average and became the first-ever golfer in program history to be honored as the SEC Golfer of the Week since joining the conference in 2012. 

Transfers Winnie Ng and Ffion Tynan came to Columbia ready to hit the ground running. Ng was second on the team with a 73-stroke average and one top-ten finish. Ffion finishes with the lowest 54-hole score of 206 with four rounds under par in 12 rounds.

Additionally, Fleur van Beek finished her first collegiate tournament four under par and Emily Staples finished with three of nine rounds under par.
