Women’s Bowling Prepares for Conference Tournament

Chesterfield, Mo. – The Columbia College women’s bowling team begins postseason play this weekend as they compete in the NAIA Unaffiliated Grouping Conference Tournament, held at Bowlero-Chesterfield in Chesterfield, Mo.

The Cougars will compete against St. Francis, SCAD-Savannah, SCAD-Atlanta, St. Xavier, Missouri Baptist, Rio Grande, and Lincoln. The winner gets an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships, held in Sterling Heights, Mich. on March 24-26.

SCAD Savannah and St. Francis are the only two teams in the field that have qualified for the NAIA National Championships before. The NAIA recognized women’s bowling as a National Championship sport in 2020. St. Francis has qualified for the national championships twice, while SCAD Savannah made an appearance in 2020.

The action begins on Saturday at 9:00 AM with 24 qualifying baker games, followed by the first round of the double-elimination bracket.

On Sunday, the remaining double elimination bracket will be played out, beginning at 7:15 AM.

Bracket play is best 3-of-5 until the title match, which is best 4-of-7.

Columbia will be sending Katyn Fischer, Katie Leonard, Claire Sandstrom, Grace Kowalski, Mollie Lynn Goodwin, Jordyn Czerw, Brianna Acord, and Breanne West.
