Head Coach Damon Helgevold:
“This was the toughest weekend as far as competition goes that we have seen all year—57 solid teams from all over the country. Placing 35th isn’t anything to be disappointed in. I think what’s sticking in the team’s mind, as well as mine is that we left positions out there.

Saturday was outstanding. Great energy from everyone all day long. We were dialed in for the most part. Two, three of us really scored well in each of the five individual games. I was super happy for Katyn to place 11th! She was top 5 in the session for the majority of the day and held on for 11th, which is a program-best in tier 1 tournaments. I was extremely happy with Saturday’s performance from every standpoint.

Sunday was just a struggle. At times we looked lost on the lanes. I felt lost of answers, and we had to just grind out the best scores possible. All week long, we had talked about battling adversity, and at times we struggled with that. However, we ended the day on a much more positive note and really put together two solid sets to finish the weekend. It would have been nice to have it sooner, but I’m glad we were able to end well. On only one week of practice and bowling in a tough Tier 1, there’s a lot to work on but a lot to be happy about. Always proud of this group.”
