Women’s Basketball Signs De’Myla Brown

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball has added transfer point guard De’Myla Brown head coach Robin Pingeton announced on Thursday.

A former NJCAA All-American at Chipola College, Brown comes to the Tigers from Houston where she averaged 5.9 points and 2.1 rebounds last season. Despite appearing in just fourteen contests, she finished seventh in scoring for the Cougars with three double-digit point performances.

Brown spent her junior year at Illinois where she started 12 games and appeared in 27 for the Illini. The Little Rock, Ark. native, ranked third on the team in scoring at 8.1 points per game. Brown buried 24 3-pointers and led the team in free-throw shooting at 82.9 percent. A two-way player, she also recorded a team-leading 30 steals.

As a sophomore at Chipola, Brown led the Indians to a Final Four appearance in the 2021 NJCAA Championship Tournament totaling 20.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. A volume scorer from beyond the arc, she ranked fourth in the nation among NJCAA athletes with 73 3-pointers during the season.

Brown began her collegiate career at Western Kentucky where she appeared in 14 games and helped lead the Hilltoppers to a 22-7 record.

A McDonald’s All-American nominee, Brown guided North Little Rock High School to two Arkansas Class 7A state championships in 2016 and 2018. She was named tournament MVP in 2018 after averaging 13.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Brown also earned all-state honors following her junior and senior seasons.

The point guard joins forwards Abby Feit (Evansville) and Angelique Ngalakulondi (UMass) in the Tigers 2023 transfer class.
