Women’s Basketball set for Braggin’ Rights Showdown at Illinois

COLUMBIA, Mo – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball travels to face Illinois at 3 p.m. Sunday in the annual McBain Homes Braggin’ Rights Showdown. The contest will air on the BIG 10 Network.

Mizzou looks to regain some momentum after falling to No. 13 Kansas State in the Bill Snyder Classic last week.

Graduate guard Abby Feit led the scoring effort for the Tigers scoring 13 points to mark her third straight game in double-digits.

Senior forward Hayley Frank also chipped in with 13 points of her own, moving her only 54 points shy of fifth place in the program’s all-time scoring list.

Frank extended her consecutive free-throw streak to 32 as she was perfect on her one trip to the line.

Tigers point guard Mama Dembele dished six assists against the Wildcats and now sits only one assist shy of sixth place on Missouri’s all-time assist leaderboard.

Dembele currently ranks first in the SEC with 77 assists (4th nationally) and is second in the conference with 35 steals.

Displaying a high-efficiency offense, The Tigers rank 39th nationally in field goal percentage at 46.43%. In addition, Mizzou tops the SEC (27th nationally) in 3-point percentage at 37.74% and ranks 21st in the country (2nd in SEC) with 9.1 triples per contest.

Illinois enters Sunday’s matchup with an overall record of 5-3 and is led by second-year head coach Shauna Green. Green served as the head coach for six seasons at Dayton before she landed in Champaign in 2022. Green led Illinois to a 22-10 overall record and made the school’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in over 20 years.

The Fighting Illini offense is commanded by senior guard Genesis Bryant as she is averaging over 14 points per game while shooting over 35 percent from 3-point range. In addition, senior forward Kendall Bostic also averages double digits as her 11.6 points per game average has stood at the front of Illinois offensive efforts.

Sunday marks the 17th matchup between these two programs as the Fighting Illini lead the all-time series 6-10Missouri is 4-2 in matchups away from Mizzou Arena.
