Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 1 South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball fell, 45-83, to No. 1 South Carolina on Thursday night at Colonia Life Arena.

Freshman guard Abbey Schreacke notched 12 points off four 3-pointers which tied her career-high.

Sophomore guard Ashton Judd added 12 points for the Tigers along with a team-high 10 rebounds. Judd has now grabbed 10 or more rebounds in 6 games this season.

Freshman guard Grace Slaughter added 12 points as well, scoring in double-digits for the 14th time this season. 

The Tigers started strong with two 3-pointers from Slaughter and Judd. South Carolina responded to the quick start with a 14-2 run to pull ahead in the contest. Senior guard Mama Dembele was disruptive on the defensive end in the first frame, recording three steals.

South Carolina would open the second quarter with an 11-0 run. Schreacke was able to knock down three 3-pointers in the quarter, but the Gamecocks continued to add to their lead, finishing the half up by a score of 48-21.

Judd and Slaughter continued to guide the Missouri offense in the third as the duo combined for 12 points. Despite the effort, the Gamecocks outscored the Tigers by five in the frame to extend their advantage.

Schreacke, Slaughter and Feldrappe recorded buckets in the fourth while Missouri limited South Carolina to 13 points in the quarter to reach the contest’s final tally.

The Tigers return home on Sunday to take on Auburn. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Mizzou Arena and will be available on SECN+.
