Women’s Basketball Falls at Home to USAO

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College women’s basketball team fell in a hard-fought contest against (RV) University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, 80-75.
 
The Cougars fall to 9-4 on the season, while USAO improves to 10-3.
 
The Drovers jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead before CC came storming back to close the gap to three points (15-12). The Cougars kept the game within striking distance but trailed 23-19 at the end of the first quarter, 23-19.
 
The two teams matched each other in the second period before the Drovers would extend the lead back to double digits (41-31) with 2:11 left in the first half. At the break, the lead would remain in double figures (45-33).
 
The Cougars chipped away at the Drovers lead and tied the game at 58-58 with 3:12 left in the period. CC could never get the basket to give them the lead as USAO took a 66-63 advantage into the last period.
 
CC scored the first five points of the final period, including a three-point field goal from Mackenzie Dubbert to give them the 68-66 lead. The Drovers answered with the following six points to regain the lead, 72-70. CC continued to battle, but USAO left Southwell Arena with an 80-75 win.
