Women’s Basketball Downs Alabama on the Road

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Missouri women’s basketball (16-6, 5-4 SEC) downed Alabama (11-9, 2-7 SEC) by a score of 77-61 on the road at Coleman Coliseum. LaDazhia Williams and Lauren Hansen led the way for the Tigers with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Williams was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line on the night.

Mizzou shot just under 60 percent on the night and the Tigers led from start to finish in Tuscaloosa. Mizzou jumped out to an eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to a scorching 10-for-13 start from the field, including 4-for-5 from three.

After Alabama cut the Mizzou lead to only three points, the Tigers closed the second quarter with a 10-0 run to go into the half with a 13-point lead. In the second half, the Tigers extended the lead to as many as 23 points.

NOTES

LaDazhia Williams was an efficient 7-for-7 on the night and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She finished with 18 points, six rebounds and a season-high three blocks.

Aijha Blackwell picked up her 17th double double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. She hit a season-high three three-pointers on the night.

Lauren Hansen put up 17 points, four rebounds and three assists. Hansen has hit at least three three-pointers in a single game eight times on the year.

Jayla Kelly matched her career high with four points.

The Tigers’ 59.6 percent field goal percentage represents Mizzou’s highest since December 20, 2020 vs. Southern Illinois.
