Women’s Basketball Continues SEC Play at Alabama

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri women’s basketball team will continue Southeastern Conference play at Alabama on Thursday. The road contest is set to tip-off at 6 p.m. and will air on SECN+ and KTGR.

Missouri improved to 2-0 in conference play with a, 62-56, victory over Auburn on Sunday. The Tigers rallied late with a 7-1 scoring run with less than two minutes remaining to earn the win.

Senior forward Hayley Frank (Strafford, Mo.) led the team with 23 points over the weekend. It was her second-straight game with 20 or more in the scoring column and her fifth this season. Missouri is 16-3 all-time when the veteran crosses the point threshold in her career.

In the win, Frank recorded her 1,300 point and is now tied for 16th on the program’s all-time scoring leaderboard.

Graduate guard Katlyn Gilbert (Indianapolis, Ind.) submitted a complimentary all-around performance with 14 points, five boards and four steals.

Graduate guard Haley Troup (Gadsden, Ala.) will make history when she takes the floor against the Crimson Tide. The Alabama native is poised to break the program’s all-time appearance record with 132 games played.

After leading the league in 3-point efficiency a season ago, Missouri has continued its long-range success with a 35.9 percent conversion rate this year.

The Tigers have been successful shooting from all points on the floor as they rank 26th nationally in field goal percentage (46.4%).

Thursday will mark the 16th meeting between the two programs, Alabama holds a narrow 8-7 lead in the all-time series.

In the teams’ last meeting, Missouri prevailed with a 77-61 victory. Graduate guard Lauren Hansen (Long Island, N.Y.) led the effort with 17 points.

The Crimson Tide enter the contest at 12-3 on the year and are 1-1 in conference play following a loss at Tennessee on Sunday.

Veteran head coach Kristy Curry will be on the home sideline for Alabama. Curry is in her 10th year at the helm of the program with a 165-135 overall record.

Graduate guard Brittany Davis headlines the Crimson Tide’s roster. Davis is averaging 16.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
