Women’s Basketball Continues Season Against Missouri State

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball is set to host its second consecutive in-state opponent Missouri State (3-2, 0-0 MVC) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Mizzou Arena. The contest will air on SECN+.

The Tigers look to continue their winning efforts after a dominant, 88-43, victory over SEMO Saturday.

The 45-point win marked the largest by the team since a 47-point landslide over Omaha last season.

Graduate forward Hayley Frank paved the way for Mizzou recording 21 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.

Frank continues to climb the all-time scoring chart as enters the contest 81 points shy of Sharon Farrah (1975-79) for fifth.

Freshman guard Abby Schreacke aided the effort against the Redhawks with 16 points and four rebounds. Schreacke has scored 10+ points on five occasions in her early collegiate career.

With three assists on Saturday, Mama Dembele claimed sole possession of tenth on the program’s all-time career assists leaderboard. Dembele enters the contest five assists behind Joni Davis (1981-85) for ninth place.

After chipping in 11 points on the day, freshman guard Grace Slaughter became the first true freshman to score in double-figures in seven of her first nine games since Frank who accomplished the feat in her own true-freshman campaign back in 2019.

Missouri State enters Wednesday’s contest following a, 70-60, victory over Tulane on Friday night. The Bears are coached by Beth Cunningham who is in her second season on the sidelines in Springfield. Cunningham led the Bears to 20 victories and an appearance in the WNIT a season ago.

The win total marks the This marks the sixth straight season Missouri State has reached a win total of 20 or more games.

Junior forward Indya Green and junior guard Lacy Stokes headline the Bears offensive efforts with 12.6 and 11.4 points per game, respectively.

Wednesday will mark the 33rd all-time meeting between the programs. Missouri leads the series 23-10 after defeating the Bears, 68-51, to open the 2022-23 season.
