Women’s Basketball Closes Regular Season at Mississippi State

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball will wrap up the regular season campaign with a trip to Mississippi State at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday. The contest will be broadcast on SECN+.

Missouri is coming off a loss to Vanderbilt on Thursday.

Sophomore guard Ashton Judd led the Tigers with 15 points and four rebounds against the Commodores.

Senior forward Hayley Frank totaled 14 points and five rebounds on Thursday and now stands just eight points shy of becoming the fourth Tiger in program history to eclipse 2,000 career points.

??Frank leads the Southeastern Conference and is third nationally in free-throw percentage at 93.3%. The senior is poised to break the all-time program record at the charity stripe at with a career mark of 88.0 percent.

Missouri point guard Mama Dembele ranks first in the SEC with 6.5 assists per game (fifth nationally) and second in the conference with 3.2 steals (eighth nationally).

Mama currently ranks fourth on the program’s career assists list with 434 and is eighth on Missouri’s career steals rankings at 195.

Freshman guard Grace Slaughter ranks third in the conference among first-year players with 11.4 points per game.

Mizzou generates much of its offense from beyond the arc, ranks second in the SEC (31st nationally) in 3-point percentage (35.8%) and is tied for 28th in the country (2nd in SEC) with 8.8 makes per contest.

Mississippi State enters Sunday with a 20-10 overall record including a 7-8 mark in conference. The Bulldogs are currently on a five-game losing streak.

The program is led by second-year head coach Sam Purcell who is 42-21 during his tenure.

Mississippi State is headlined by the play of graduate Jessika Carter who  is averaging a double-double with 15.2 points and 10.4 rebounds on 53.3 percent from the field

Carter has 13 double-doubles this season and 41 career double-doubles which ranks second among active SEC players and third in program history. She is one of six SEC players with 10-plus this season.

The regular season finale will be the 16th all-time meeting between the programs with the Bulldogs holding a 10-5 advantage including a 4-2 series lead in Starkville, Mississippi.
