Columbia, Mo. – The 2022-23 CSC Softball Academic All-America® NAIA teams have been announced, recognizing the nation’s top student athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Columbia’s Ella Schouten was named to the First-Team earning a 3.81 GPA, while Athena Wheeler was named to the Second-Team, obtaining a 3.91 GPA.
Schouten appeared in 25 games for the Cougars, recording the sixth-lowest ERA in the NAIA (0.95). She produced 247 strikeouts for Columbia, which ranks tenth in the nation. Schouten manufactured an 18-7 record in 162 innings pitched.
Wheeler played in 41 contests, collecting 31 hits, 32 RBI, and 11 home runs. She also produced the walk-off home run in the American Midwest Conference Championship game to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage over Cottey College (Mo.).
