Weber Earns SEC Men’s Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

Mitch Weber

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Graduate student Mitch Weber earned SEC Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday.

The graduate student from St. Peter, Minnesota, has excelled in the classroom and as one of the best throwers in Missouri track and field history. Weber is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in global supply chain management, where he currently holds a perfect 4.0 GPA. Last year, Weber earned an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering, and has been tabbed as a three-time SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll selection the past three years.

Over his four-plus years as a Tiger, Weber has earned a pair of podium positions at the SEC Outdoor Championships by winning the 2022 SEC discus title and finishing as a silver medalist in the event in 2021. He also qualified for the 2021 NCAA Championships in discus and earned a spot in the NCAA West Region Preliminaries in the event the last three seasons. During his collegiate career, Weber has won 10 event titles and 40 top-five finishes.

At both the indoor and outdoor level, Weber has made his mark in the Mizzou track and field record books. With a 60.99m (200-1) discus throw at the Mizzou Spring Opener on March 20, 2021, Weber sits at No. 2 in program history. The graduate student also earned the No. 5 spot on the program’s men’s weight throw leaderboard with a 21.33m (69-11.75) toss two weeks ago at the Music City Challenge.
