Volleyball Sweeps Dakota State on Day One of Viterbo Tournament

La Crosse, Wisconsin – The 11th-ranked Cougars were back in action today as they competed on day one of the Viterbo Tournament, hosted by Viterbo University. The Cougars played their way to a sweep over the Trojans of Dakota State University, moving their all-time record against DSU to 3-0.

The Cougars led the Trojans in every statistical category, but were tied in team digs. Columbia’s defense caused problems for the Trojans as DSU finished the match with just a .163 hitting percentage, compared to .220% from the Cougars. 

Allana Capella registered a team-high 13 kills to go along with five blocks. 

Alayna Rooks was error-free, finishing with 11 kills and zero errors for a .458 hitting percentage. 

Sude Gundogan also finished with zero errors and six kills of her own. 

Defensively, the Cougars had three players finish with double-digit digs in that of Luisa Ferreira (12), Ellie Rockers (12), and Clara Gower (10). 

Luisa Ferreira dished out a match-high 40 assists. 

Columbia returns to play tomorrow with two more games in the Viterbo Tournament; they will play against William Penn University at 11:00AM and then against hosts #4 Viterbo at 1:00PM.
