Volleyball Goes 2-0 in Fayette

St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 19-ranked Columbia College volleyball team went 2-0 at the Central Methodist Triangular on Saturday. The Cougars defeated Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in four sets and (10) Central Methodist University (Mo.) in five sets. 

Columbia (24-7) vs. Olivet Nazarene (15-9)
Set 1: Columbia 22 | Olivet Nazarene 25
Down 5-2, Olivet Nazarene went on a 5-0 win to take a 7-5 lead. A service error by the Tigers gave Cougars an 11-9 lead, Olivet Nazarene took control of the set with a 6-0 run and went on to win set 1. 

Set 2: Columbia 25 | Olivet Nazarene 17
With Megan Musselman serving, the Cougars six straight to increase the lead to 12-8. The Tigers got back within two points, but the Cougars quickly pushed the lead out to six at 17-11. CC ended the set scoring the final five points. 

Set 3: Columbia 25 | Olivet Nazarene 14
Leading 13-11, CC took control of the third set with a 6-0 run to lead 19-11. CC ended the set winning five of the last six points. 

Set 4: Columbia 25 | Olivet Nazarene 18
The Cougars led 15-14 before winning six points in a row and taking control of the set, 21-14. The Cougars went on to take set four.

Set 1: Columbia 22 | Central Methodist 25
The first set was close throughout, but a 5-0 run from the Eagles gave them a 24-17 lead and control of the first set.  

Set 2: Columbia 25 | Central Methodist 17
In set two, the Cougars used a 5-0 run to increase their lead to nine points (23-14) and tie the match at 1-1. 

Set 3: Columbia 16 | Central Methodist 25
Another 5-0 run was the difference maker in set three, as the run extended the lead to 12-8. The Cougars answered with the next point, but the 12-9 score would be as close as CC would get the rest of the set. 

Set 4: Columbia 25 | Central Methodist 21
CMU came out strong in the fourth set as a kill gave them a 15-5 lead. The Cougars would not fold as an 8-1 run got them back in the set at 16-13. A service ace from Jaqueline Silva gave CC their first lead of the set, 21-20, and Columbia led the rest of the way. 

Set 5: Columbia 15 | Central Methodist 12
CC went on a 4-0 run to give them a 10-8 lead in the final set. CMU tied the set at 12-12, but Columbia scored the final three points to win the match.
