Volleyball All-Conference & Season Award Winners Announced

Columbia, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference has announced the members of the 2022 AMC Women’s Volleyball All-Conference and Season Award winners. 

The Cougars placed four players on the All-AMC First-Team and took four of the seven special awards. Columbia was awarded Setter of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Assistant Coach of the Year.
 
*all stats are prior to the AMC Tournament, which will begin tonight, November 8th
 

  • AMC Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year – Allison Jones-Olson
    • Jones-Olson led the Cougars to an undefeated AMC regular season, the first time since 2012. She also helped the Cougars pull off an upset against the No. 1 ranked team in the country.

 

  • AMC Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach of the Year – Kandace Cook
    • Cook helped Columbia to a 10-0 conference record and first place regular season finish in the AMC.

 

  • Setter of the Year/1st Team All-Conference Luisa Ferreira
  • Junior setter, Luisa Ferreira was named Setter of the Year for the third time in her career, while also obtaining her fourth-consecutive First-Team All-Conference recognition. Ferreira has dished out 10.6 assists per set totaling 1,222 assists. She also picked up 408 digs, gathering 3.6 per set.

  

  • Freshman of the Year/1st Team All-Conference Allana Capella
  • Freshman right side hitter, Allana Capella earned Freshman of the Year honors, while securing a place on the All-AMC First-Team. Capella leads the Cougars in kills with 240, while hitting 2.8 per set. She holds a hitting percentage of .260 on the season.

 

  • 1st Team All-Conference/Champions of Character Team – Ellie Rockers
  • Junior outside hitter, Ellie Rockers achieved All-AMC First-Team praise for the first time in her career. She was also named to the AMC Champions of Character Team for the third time for her contribution to the NAIA Five Core Character Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership. Rockers has produced 185 kills on the season and 30 service aces.

 

  • 1st Team All-Conference – Danielle Prior
  • Graduate student and middle hitter Danielle Prior, earned First-Team All-AMC honors for the first time in her career. Prior has produced her best season for the Cougars knocking down 205 kills (1.9 per set) while securing 98 total blocks.

 

  • 2nd Team All-Conference – Abby Massengill
  • Sophomore middle hitter Abby Massengill, grabbed Second-Team All-AMC honors for the second-consecutive year. Massengill recorded 206 kills for the Cougars, taking 2.2 per set. She has also documented 62 blocks.

 

  • 2nd Team All-Conference – Sude Gundogan
  • Sophomore outside hitter Sude Gundogan, was named Second-Team All-AMC for first time in her career. Gundogan managed 2.7 kills per set, garnering 216 kills on the season. She has produced a hitting percentage of .230.

 

The AMC has also released the list of student-athletes to earn Academic All-Conference recognition. To be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must be in their second semester at their AMC institution, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and finish the year on the team. *fall sport freshman are not eligible for the award in their first season
