Two Tigers Win Events to Complete the Weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri track and field completed a busy weekend of competition at the Drake Relays and the Rock Chalk Invitational on Saturday.

NOTABLE FINISHES

Atina Kamasi (Novi Sad, Serbia) won the women’s javelin with a throw of 45.34 (148-9). All four Tigers that competed in this event placed in the top seven.

Quentin Worley (Riverside, Mo.) won the men’s 1,500m with a time of 3:56.13, beating his previous personal best by more than one second.

The Tigers had a strong showing in the rest of the field events. Mitchell Weber (Saint Clair, Minn.) and Rece Rowan (Colorado Springs, Colo.) placed second and third in the men’s discus with throws of 54.17m (177-8) and 53.19m (174-6), respectively. Emily Stauffer (Reinholds, Penn.) placed second in the women’s shot put with a mark of 15.39m (50-6). Sydney Oberdiek (Platte City, Mo.) also placed second in the women’s hammer throw with a mark of 60.93m (199-11).

In the evening, Royce Fisher (Grain Valley, Mo.) placed second in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:14.84. This performance improved his personal best by nearly four seconds. Ginger Murnieks (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) wrapped up the meet for the Tigers with a second-place finish in the women’s 5,000m. She finished with a time of 17:16.15.

UP NEXT

The Tigers will take a week off before heading to SEC Outdoor Championships in Oxford, Miss., Thursday, May 12, through Saturday, May 14.
