Two Second Half Goals Propel Cougars Past Mustangs

Conway, Arkansas – The Columbia College men’s soccer team took on the Mustangs of Central Baptist College today in American Midwest Conference action. The Cougars dominated the Mustangs offensively and played to a 2-0 win. 

The Cougars improve to 8-3-4 overall and 4-1-1 in AMC play, and the Mustangs dropped to 5-8-3 overall and 1-1-3 in conference play. 

The first half saw back and forth action from both teams, but neither were able to find the back of the net. 

The Cougars turned on the offensive pressure in the second half, outshooting the Mustangs 9-1. 

Carter Redford scored for the first goal for the Cougars on a penalty kick in the 66th-minute. 

In the 72nd-minute, Luke Sowerby took a shot that was saved by the CBC goalkeeper, but Sidiki Kromah would score right after that to extend the Cougars’ lead to 2-0. 

On the match, the Cougars outshot the Mustangs 13-4 with four corner kicks to two from CBC. 

Columbia plays its last non-conference contest next as they travel to take on #11 Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee on October 24th.
