Track and Field Sweeps Two Podiums at KT Woodman Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri track and field team wrapped up the WT Woodman Classic with 10 podium finishes on Saturday.

The Tigers swept the podium in the women’s hammer throw and the discus.

Sydney Oberdiek claimed first in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.51m (195-3). She was followed by Carolina Daza (58.97m / 193-6) and Petra Gombas (55.75m / 182-11) in second and third respectively.

Kaia Harris led the Tiger pack in the discus throw with a mark of 54.69m. Emily Offenhieser took second in the event with a personal-best mark of 53.80m (176-6). The throw ranks fifth in program history.

Offenhieser was followed by Ames Burton (51.23m / 168-1) and Sophia Rivera (48.61m / 159-6).

NOTABLE RESULTS

  • Rece Rowan notched a third-place finish in the discus at 55.16m (181-0).
  • Sam Innes claimed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.69m (199-1).
  • Marc Poland Jr. secured a new personal-best time of 49.28 in the 400-meter dash
  • Alicia Burnett took third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.86
  • Burnett also claimed fourth in the 200-meter dash with another personal-best time of 24.53
  • Jayson Ashford set a new personal best in the 100-meter dash at 10.34. The time ranks seventh in Missouri history.
  • Ashford also paced the pack in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.02.

UP NEXT

Missouri will be back in action on Wednesday to open the Mt. Sac. Relays in Walnut, Calif.
