Track and Field Primed for Rock Chalk Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri track and field team will travel west to Lawrence, Kan., to compete in the Rock Chalk Classic on Saturday. The Tigers will have athletes across the men’s and women’s teams participating in their last outdoor meet of the season before the SEC Championships on May 3.

ROCK CHALK CLASSIC

  • Isabella Sokolova, who currently holds the ninth-fastest time in Missouri history in the women’s 100m hurdles (13.86s), will compete in the same event over the weekend.
  • The holders of the third, fifth, and sixth-farthest discus throws in school outdoor history — Kaia Harris (56.93m/186-9), Ames Burton (54.17m/177-8) and Emily Offenheiser (53.80m/176-6) — will participate in the event on Saturday.
  • Sydney Oberdiek (62.99m/206-8) and Carolina Daza (61.35m/201-3), who hold the fifth and sixth-best hammer throws in Missouri history, will compete in the event.
  • Erin Zimmerman, holding the seventh-farthest throw in school history at 49.75m/163-3, will be Missouri’s lone thrower in the event this weekend.
  • Mitchell Weber, who has the second-best throw in Missouri history at 60.99m/200-1, will throw this weekend. Rece Rowan, who has the ninth-farthest throw (56.77m/186-3), will additionally compete.

LAST TIME OUT: JOHN MCDONNELL INVITATIONAL

  • Claudina Diaz won the women’s high jump with a 1.85m/6-0.75 leap, ranking sixth in the nation this season.
  • Ryder James won the men’s 3000m with a 8:29.82 finish.
  • Atina Kamasi (47.91m/147-4) and Kaesha George (44.91m/147-4) placed first and second in the women’s javelin, respectfully.
  • Mirieli Santos won the women’s triple jump with a 13.04m/42-9.5 leap.
  • Euphenie Andre posted a personal best in the women’s triple jump with a 12.93m/42-5.25 leap.
  • Robert Hines and Marc Poland Jr. raced career-best times in the men’s 200m — finishing in 22.30s and 22.51s, respectfully.
  • Quinton Brown leaped a personal record in the men’s high jump with a 2.06m/6-9 leap.
  • Petar Canak won the men’s long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.91m/22-8.
  • Zachary Charles (53.28s) and David Buckner (53.78s) notched personal bests in the men’s 400m hurdles.
