Track and Field, Cross Country add Levermore as Assistant Coach

Kyle Levermore

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Track and Field and Cross Country has added Kyle Levermore as an assistant coach head coaches Brett Halter and Lindsey Anderson announced jointly on Sunday.

Levermore joins the Tigers after four seasons at Georgetown where he served as an assistant distance coach. While with the Hoyas, he helped lead the women’s cross country team to three top-20 finishes at NCAA Championships, including a 10th-place performance in the 2022 title race.

“We are thrilled for Kyle to join our staff,” Anderson said. “He has demonstrated a consistent ability to develop elite distance runners and recruit top-ranked athletes from all around the world. Throughout the interview process, it was clear that Kyle aligns with our core team values and is unified in our vision to continue to build a national championship level program here at Missouri.”

During his tenure as an assistant, Georgetown’s women’s cross country team captured two NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships (2021, 2022) and three Big East Championships (2020, 2021, 2022)

Individually, Levermore helped coach 13 USTFCCA All-Americans, 20 Big East Champions and 66 athletes who set top-20 all-time program marks.

An experienced and accomplished recruiter, Levermore assisted the Hoyas in garnering two top five ranked men’s freshman classes in 2021 and 2022. Serving as the recruiting coordinator, he brought in a top five women’s transfer class in 2022.

A 2019 graduate of the University of Arkansas, Levermore twice earned All-SEC honors in the 3000m steeplechase and was a member of three SEC Championship-winning teams in Cross Country, and two fifth-place team finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

In 2016-17, Levermore was a part of the Razorback’s team that captured the SEC triple crown, winning conference titles in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.

“I want to thank the staff at Georgetown University,” Levermore said. “Alton McKenzie, Brandon Bonsey and Mitchell Baker have become lifelong mentors and friends, I would not be in this position without their support and leadership over the last four years. I am thrilled to be joining the staff at Mizzou and am grateful to Coach Halter and Coach Anderson for the opportunity. Having been an athlete in this conference, it is extra special to return in a coaching role. From the beginning, I was drawn to the long-term commitment to rebuilding a championship distance program. Coach Anderson’s resume as a coach and athlete speaks for itself but her vision and energy are contagious. With the NCAA Cross Country Championships coming to Columbia in 2025, there is no better time to be a Tiger than now and I look forward to getting to work!”

A native of Mahwah, N.J., Levermore was a four-time high school state champion and one of five athletes ever in the state’s history to win titles in both the 1600 meters and 3200 meters. In 2014, he qualified for the U20 Outdoor Championships in the 5000 meters where he finished seventh.

Levermore earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising/Public Relations from Arkansas and obtained a Master’s Degree in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown.
