Tigers Head to Tempe for Arizona State Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri women’s basketball team will travel to Tempe, Ariz. to compete in the Arizona State Classic on Saturday and Sunday alongside UMass and host Arizona State. The matchups will be broadcast on Pac-12.com and KTGR.

The Tigers will face the Minutewomen at 4 p.m. CT Saturday and the Sun Devils at 1:30 p.m. CT Sunday.

Missouri enters the weekend with a 7-1 record following an 82-52 victory over Saint Louis on Wednesday. Senior guard Lauren Hansen scored 24 points in the contest to lead the Tigers.

Senior forward Hayley Frank added 14 points and five rebounds. With the performance, Frank moved into 25th place on the program’s all-time scoring leaderboard (1,190).

The Tigers have displayed a balanced attack through the non-con campaign, Robin Pingeton’s squad ranks 33rd nationally with a shooting percentage of 46.2%.

On the defensive side, Missouri is 40th among Division I teams holding their opponents to just 34.7 percent from the floor. Mizzou has constrained its opponents below double digits in seven quarters this year.

The Tigers have been locked in offensively from the opening tipoff this season, Missouri outscored Saint Louis 22-14 in the first 10 minutes and now holds a 131-90 overall advantage over its opponents in the first frame.

Saturday will mark the first contest between the Tigers and Minutewomen. Following Wednesday’s victory, the program is 28-1 all-time against Atlantic 10 opponents.

Missouri has faced Arizona State on two previous occasions with the last coming in the 2021 WNIT.

UMass is 7-1 this season and is headlined offensively by senior guard Sydney Taylor who is averaging 18.6 points per game

The Sun Devils enter the weekend at 6-1 under the leadership of first-year head coach Natasha Adair.

The hosts are led by junior guard Tyi Skinner who is averaging 20.6 points per game.

Both games will be played in Desert Financial Arena.
