Three Mizzou Women’s Swimmers Earn Individual Bids to NCAAs

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Three members of the No. 19 University of Missouri women’s swimming team earned invitations to the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, the NCAA announced on March 2.

Fifth-year senior Sarah Thompson, senior Megan Keil and junior Meredith Rees will represent the Tigers in Atlanta from March 16-19.

Mizzou is also eligible to swim in the 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay and 400 medley relay.

The Tiger divers will compete for their NCAA bids at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Madison, Wis., from March 7-9. 

Thompson earned her fifth NCAA invite. She earned berths in the 50 free, 100 back and 100 fly. She is seeded ninth in the 100 back and 13th in both the 50 free and 100 fly. Thompson claimed silver in the 100 back at this season’s SEC Championships. She also won bronze and First Team All-America accolades in the 50 free at the 2021 NCAA Championships. Thompson also took home All-America honorable mention honors in the 100 back. She holds the school record in the 50 free and ranks third all-time in the 100 fly and fourth in the 100 back.

Keil earned the third NCAA berth of her career, with an invite in the 50 free. She is seeded 22nd, and is also invited to swim in the 100 free. Keil earned 50 free All-America honorable mention honors with a ninth-place finish at last year’s NCAA Championships. She ranks third-all time at Mizzou in the 50 free.

Also with her third NCAA bid, Rees earned berths in both the 100 back and 200 back, with 16th and 33rd seeds, respectively. She is also invited to swim in the 50 free. Rees earned All-America honorable mention honors in the 100 back last season with a 14th place finish at the NCAA Championships. She ranks fifth all-time at Mizzou in both the 100 back and 200 back.
