Three Cougars Earn AMC Weekly Honors

St. Louis, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference has announced their weekly player of the week recipients. Sude Gundogan, Ellie Rockers, and Emily Strunck earned AMC Player of the Week honors for their efforts this past week.
 
AMC Attacker of the Week
Sude Gundogan, Columbia (Mo.)
So. l OH |  Istanbul, Turkey

  • Produced 15 kills with a hitting percentage of .481 in the Cougars’ win over Marian (Wisc.).
  • Totaled 64 kills over the six-game stretch, while the Cougars went 6-0.
  • Averaged 3.5 kills per set for the Cougars.
  • Had double-digit kill totals in four of the six matches.
  • Hit .286 on the week, helping the Cougars to a 6-0 week.

 
AMC Defender of the Week
Ellie Rockers, Columbia (Mo.)
Jr. l OH | Jefferson City, (Mo.)

  • Recorded 30 assists throughout the six-game streak, averaging five per match.
  • Tallied 100 digs on the week, with a week-high of 25 against Cardinal Stritch (Wisc.).
  • Finished with 11 service aces over the six game period.
  • Averaged 4.7 digs per set, while accumulating double-digit dig totals in five-of-the-six matches.

 
AMC Women’s Golfer of the Week
Emily Strunck, Columbia (Mo.)
Gr. l Scharbeutz, Germany

  • Led the Cougars to a first-place finish at the WWU Fall Invitational along with taking home an individual title.
  • Recorded a score of 147 (71-76), finishing one stroke off of the 36-hole record of 146.
  • Shot a 71 (1-under-par) in round one of the WWU Fall Invitational.
  • Broke the Columbia College record for 18-hole score when she shot 71
  • The Cougars broke the school record for 36-hole score with a 621 total.
  • Named All-Tournament Team.
