Texas A&M Defeats No. 20 Mizzou Basketball

College Station, Texas – The No. 20 Missouri men’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a first-half Texas A&M run as the host Aggies earned an 82-64 victory on Wednesday night. The Tigers drop to 13-3 on the season and 2-2 in SEC play, while Texas A&M improves to 11-5 overall and a prefect 3-0 versus league foes.

Three Tigers scored in double figures on the night, led by 14 points from senior Kobe Brown. Graduate students DeAndre Gholston and D’Moi Hodge also chipped in 10 points apiece.

A close game early was turned with a sustained Texas A&M run. Trailing by a point, 14-13, the Aggies used a 21-2 stretch over the next eight minutes to grab a 34-16 lead. Mizzou missed 10-straight shots during the run with five turnovers as the Aggies headed into the locker room with a 43-25 advantage.

The Tigers were a different team in the second half and cut what was as much as a 21-point deficit down to just four points. Trailing by 19, 48-39, Mizzou scored 17 of the game’s next 19 points for a four-point contest, 50-46, with over 10 minutes remaining. Back-to-back triples from Hodge capped the run as the graduate student reached 1,000 points for his career.

Texas A&M, however, was able to regroup and take advantage from the free-throw line. The Aggies tallied five-straight points from the charity stripe to ignite a 12-0 spurt, moving back in front by 16 points en route to the 82-64 win.

The Tigers shot 35.6 percent from the field with a 7-of-31 clip from 3-point range. Texas A&M, meanwhile, made 53.3 percent of its attempts, going 10-for-23 from beyond the arc and 24-of-32 from the free-throw line.
