COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri tennis team closes out its road tour with weekend competition at Colorado State University and University of Colorado on Feb. 10 and 11, respectively. Going into the weekend’s action, the Tigers are sitting at a 2-6 record on the young 2024 season.

Mizzou is coming off a strong weekend performance with a 2-1 finish while on the road in Lynchburg, Va., grabbing the team’s first two wins of the 2024 campaign. The Tigers secured a hard-fought win (4-3) against James Madison, ending with a nail-biting match of graduate student Emelie Schwarte. In the No. 4 spot, Schwarte took her singles match to three sets (6-2, 3-6, 7-5) and pushed Mizzou towards the win over the Dukes.

Tennis won against Radford the next day and dominated in doubles, with all three duos winning their matches against the Lady Flames. Mizzou closed out the weekend with five singles wins. Senior Mae Canete swept the weekend’s competition with two doubles wins (Liberty and Radford) with partner junior Inah Canete. The pair is ranked No. 19 in the ITA Doubles. Additionally, M. Canete walked away with two singles wins against Radford and JMU at the No. 1 spot.

The Tigers are penciled in to face off against the Rams (2-1) at 1:30 p.m. CT in Fort Collins, Colo. The programs have met three other times, with Colorado State up 2-1 in the series record, and their last match was on Feb. 14, 2015, ending in a Mizzou 7-0 win.

Colorado and Missouri have a historical program record of 25-3, with the Buffs on top. In their last meeting, the Tigers won 7-0 on April 23, 2011. The two schools began facing off in 1981, and the Tigers are looking to break the Buffs 13-0 home record against Missouri this weekend. Mizzou is scheduled to play Colorado (4-1) on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. CT in Boulder, Colo.
