Tennis Prepares For No. 48 Arkansas In SEC Road Match

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Missouri tennis hits the road and prepares for No. 48 University of Arkansas on Sunday, March 17. The dual will start at 11 a.m. CT at the Billingsley Tennis Center. Mizzou enters the match with a 4-12 record, still looking to grab their first Southeastern Conference win for the 2024 season. 

The Tigers most recently wrapped up a match at No. 15 University of Alabama on Sunday, March 10, dropping 4-2 to the Tide. Mizzou turned on the heat for singles play, splitting the four final matches 2-2. Senior Mae Canete battled against No. 32 Loudmilla Bencheikh on court one and walked away with the victory for the Tigers in two sets, 6-4, 6-3. At the No. 6 spot, sophomore Andrea Artimedi dominated and secured the second point for Mizzou with her two-set win, 6-3, 6-1.  

Arkansas sits at a 7-7 record heading into Sunday’s action and is also searching for its first SEC win for the 2024 campaign. Looking at court one for doubles play, No. 33 M. Canete and junior Inah Canete (16-8) with the Tigers will compete head-to-head against the Razorback’s No. 25 doubles pair of Morgan Cross and Indianna Spink (11-5). 

The series record between both programs began in the 1982 season, with the Tigers and the Razorbacks most recently facing off on April 14, 2023, in Columbia, Mo., and ended in an Arkansas win, 4-2. Totaling 19 games in the series record, Mizzou has secured three wins in program history against Arkansas. 

UP NEXT 

The Tigers return home to host No. 19 South Carolina on Friday, March 22, with first serve set for 2 p.m. CT. Mizzou will close the weekend against No. 16 Florida on Sunday, March 24, at 11 a.m. at the Country Club of Missouri or Green Tennis Center.
