Tennis Team v. UGA

COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri tennis preps for a weekend tour across Alabama with action against No. 12 Auburn University on Friday, March 8, and No. 15 University of Alabama on Sunday, March 10. The Tigers currently sit at a 4-10 record for the season and are searching for their first SEC win in conference play.

Mizzou came off a stacked weekend with doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday, splitting the matches 2-2. The Tigers clinched two matches against Lindenwood University, winning both 4-0. Senior Mae Canete and junior Inah Canete swept their doubles action against the Lions in the No. 1 spot for the Tigers, 6-0. M. Canete, I. Canete, and sophomore Andrea Artimedi all secured singles wins in each afternoon match, which pushed Mizzou to grab both victories against Lindenwood. The Tigers saw their first SEC action against Georgia and Tennessee for the 2024 season in their weekend home opener.

Continuing SEC play, the Tigers are set to face off against Auburn (8-5) in Auburn, Alabama in their third conference match. This contest marks the 11th meetup between both programs, beginning on the series on April 7, 2013. The last meetup between the programs ended in a 4-0 Auburn win on Apr. 9, 2023. The Auburn Tigers are up in the series record 10-0, and the Mizzou Tigers are still searching for their first program win with Friday’s match.

The Tigers will continue their action in Alabama (11-1) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in their fourth SEC match of the season. Mizzou first opened their series against Alabama on Apr. 5, 2013, and most recently contested against the Tide on April 7, 2023, which ended in a 4-1 loss against Alabama.
