Tennis Heads East For Pair Of SEC Matches

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri tennis will travel east for a pair of road conference matches. Mizzou will play at Kentucky on Friday, March 29, before heading to Vanderbilt on Sunday, March 31. The match against the Wildcats is set for 4 p.m. CT, while the contest versus the Commodores will start at 11 a.m. CT.

The Tigers 4-15 in 2024 and are still in search of their first Southeastern Conference win (0-7). Redshirt senior Mae Canete and junior Inah Canete currently rank No. 53 in the country in doubles, while M. Canete is No. 117 in singles.

Kentucky is ranked No. 63 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with a 7-9 record, 1-6 in SEC play. UK comes into the Friday match on a three-match skid, falling most recently at No. 11 Texas A&M, 6-1. The Wildcats’ top doubles pairing of Elizabeth Stevens and Makayla Mills is currently ranked No. 63 by the ITA.

Coming in at No. 27, Vanderbilt is 9-5 this season and 4-3 in conference action. The Commodores have won four of their last five, recently topping LSU 4-3 in Baton Rouge. The Commodores have two doubles pairings ranked in the top-100, as their No. 1 doubles duo, Anessa Lee and Celia-Belle Mohr, ranks No. 33 in the country, and the pair of Holly Staff and Valeria Ray sits in the No. 73 spot. Additionally, in singles, Mohr is No. 11 in the nation.
