Tennis Drops Match To No. 11 Texas A&M At Home

COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri falls to No. 11 Texas A&M on Friday, April 5th, at the Country Club of Missouri, 7-0. Mizzou moves their season record to 4-18 with the match and is still searching for their first Southeastern Conference win. 

Opening the match with doubles play, the Tigers could not grab the doubles point, falling to the Aggies on the No. 1 and 3 courts. On court two, seniors Romary Cardenas Rifka and Gabriela Martinez battled in a hard-fought match that ultimately went unfinished with the Aggies up, 5-4.

Mizzou walked into singles play down 1-0 to Texas A&M. On the No. 5 court, sophomore Andrea Artimedi competed in a back-and-forth match and took the match to a tiebreaker, ultimately dropping in end 7-5, 2-6, 1-0.

The Tigers are not done with the weekend’s action and will return to Country Club of Missouri or Green Tennis Center to play a doubleheader on Sunday, April 7th at 10 a.m. CT against SEC opponent LSU and close out with a match against Saint Louis at 3 p.m. CT. Mizzou will be honoring seniors M. Canete, Cardenas, Martinez and graduate student Emelie Schwarte before their final home match with Senior Day festivities beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT.
