Tennis Drops Match at Grand Canyon, 5-2

PHOENIX – The University of Missouri tennis team dropped its opening match of 2024 at Grand Canyon, 5-2, on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Missouri started the match strong, earning the doubles point with wins from the No. 1 and No. 3 pairings. No. 16-ranked Mae Canete and Inah Canete grabbed their first win of the season, 7-5, and Andrea Artimedi and Emelie Schwarte, 7-6 (8-6).

Leading 1-0, the Tigers could only snag one win in singles action. Artimedi defeated Dania Deaifi 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in the No. 6 spot. Mizzou fought hard, taking the No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches to three sets, but was unable to get the wins, falling 5-2 to Grand Canyon.
