NASHVILLE – University of Missouri tennis dropped a road contest at No. 27 Vanderbilt on Sunday, March 31, 4-0. Mizzou moves to 4-17 and 0-9 in Southeastern Conference action.

Graduate student Emelie Schwarte and sophomore Andrea Artimedi stood up against the No. 33 ranked doubles pair in the country, battling in a 4-3 match before going unfinished. The Tigers entered singles down 3-0 due to the team missing players because of illness. In singles, Artimedi and senior Romary Cardenas Rifka fought hard in their first sets. Mizzou saw the first, second and third spot go unfinished in the 4-0 loss.

“It was the same situation as Friday. We did all we could with the players we had available. The girls competed hard and played some good tennis, both in doubles and singles. I was impressed by how Emelie fought back in the second set, showing she can play at a very good level. I am happy with everyone’s performance. Now it is time to rest a little, get everybody healthy, and have some good practice sessions to prepare for the next weekend of competition at home.”

The Tigers will return home for a Friday match against Texas A&M on April 5, followed by a doubleheader on Senior Day versus LSU and Saint Louis on Sunday, April 7.
