Swim and Dive Sends 11 to NCAA Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Swim and Dive program will send 11 athletes to the NCAA Championship meets. National championship festivities begin with the women’s championship later this week in Athens, Ga. (Wednesday, March 20-Saturday, March 23), while the men’s championship takes place next week from Indianapolis, Ind. (Wednesday, March 27-Saturday, March 30).

GRANT BOCHENSKI

Grant Bochenski will take on the 50 free, 100 free and 100 back at the NCAA Championships. The junior is fresh off of clinching the program record in the 100 back, beating the mark twice on the same day at the SEC Championships. His 44.96 standing in the event earned him a fourth-place finish in finals, all while squeaking out Daniel Hein’s previous record of 45.26, which he set back in 2019.

Bochenski has earned reputable times in the sprint free events as well, earning a career-best 19.67 in the 50 free while in Auburn, Ala. for the SEC Championships last month, and a 42.56 in the 100 free (which he set at the Mizzou Qualifier two weeks ago) is currently the fourth-fastest time in program history.

The Naperville, Ill. native has seen a copious amount of success throughout the season, winning 10 individual events and adding 10 additional podium placements, nine of which were silver medals. He only raced the 50 free a select few times this season, but a 19.96 in the Tiger Qualifier (Feb. 2-3) earned him a win. He never won an individual event in the 100 free, but earned six second-place finishes throughout the year, most recently at Purdue (Jan. 13).

The 100 back was his most successful event, picking up three event wins at Alabama (48.47), at Purdue (48.46) and during the Tiger Qualifier (45.72). He also picked up individual wins in the 200 free, 50 back, 200 back and the 100 IM throughout the season.

COLLIER DYER

Collier Dyer is slated to take on the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dives at NCAA’s next week. The sophomore has put up formidable marks in all three diving events this season, entering a score in the program’s all-time top ten in each event. He is fresh off of a silver medal performance in the platform dive (397.00) at SEC’s last month.

His NCAA qualifying mark of 373.65 in the 1-meter at the Mizzou Invitational boosted him to seventh in school history, while his 3-meter score of 398.90 (set a Purdue) currently sits eighth. Having garnered flashes of brilliance in the platform dive, he became the first diver in Division I to exceed 400 points this season (402.30 at the Tiger Qualifier), as his monster score saw him jump to third in program history in the event.

Throughout the season, Dyer consistently placed himself at or near the top of the podium, picking up three event wins to go along with nine more podiums. He topped the 1-meter on two occasions, first with a 310.75 at Lindenwood/Southern Illinois (Nov. 3) and then a 356.18 at Louisville (Jan. 5). His lone 3-meter triumph came at Alabama (Oct. 20) when he secured a 320.40, and his lone platform win was at the Mizzou Invite (Nov. 15-17) by posting a 317.85.

WILL GOODWIN

Will Goodwin will rep the Tigers in the 100 breast, 200 breast and the 200 IM in Indianapolis. The graduate student currently holds times that rank in the top six in program history in each event: his 52.18 in the 100 breast sits sixth, his 200 breast mark of 1:52.29 sits third, and his 200 IM pace of 1:44.48 is also sixth. The Centennial, Colo. native is peaking at the perfect time, as he set his 100 breast and 200 IM marks at the SEC Championships last month.

Goodwin has enjoyed four wins and 13 total podium placements during his final campaign with Mizzou. His first pair of victories came at the Mizzou Invite (Nov. 15-17), where he paced the field in the 200 breast (1:54.01) and the 200 IM (1:45.17). He then won the 100 breast at Missouri State (Dec. 2), clocking in at 54.20. His latest individual victories came in the 200 IM against Purdue (Jan. 13).

TAYLOR WILLIAMS

Taylor Williams will represent Missouri in the 100 fly and 200 fly this weekend in Athens, Ga. Williams has owned the butterfly stroke throughout her career, as the junior now heralds top five all-time times in each event. Her 100 fly mark of 51.78, which she set at the Mizzou Qualifier on March 3, currently sits fourth all-time, and her 200 fly pace of 1:55.88 is second behind Sharli Brady (2018).

The St. Louis Park, Minn. native won seven individual events and accumulated 12-total podium finishes this season. She first added to her trophy case by sweeping the butterfly events at Alabama (Oct. 20). Her 200 fly was arguably her strong-suit consistently as she managed to win the event twice in a row to begin 2024, first at Louisville (1:56.20), then at Purdue (2:02.70).

Furthermore, she earned a pair of victories at Lindenwood/Southern Illinois (Nov. 3), first in the 50 free (22.88), then in the 100 fly (53.46). Her latest 100 fly victory came at Missouri State (Dec. 2) by touching the wall in 54.28.

KAMRYN WONG

Kamryn Wong will partake in the 1-meter dive at the NCAA Championships. The sophomore currently owns the ninth-best 1-meter mark in program history with a 304.43 set at Louisville (Jan. 5), and is fresh off of a 10th-place finish in the event (288.65 in prelims) at the Zone Diving Championships in Houston.

She clinched three victories in the 1-meter throughout the season, first at Alabama (278.63), then at Lindenwood/Southern Illinois (252.30), and finally during the Tiger Qualifier (262.88).

TOMMASO ZANNELLA

Tommaso Zannella will participate in the platform dive at NCAA’s. Although he missed a decent chunk of the season, he’s spent the past couple months securing exceptional scores in the 10-meter, including a 698.30 (338.95 in prelims, 359.35 in finals) on the final day of the Zone Diving Championships.

He used a 355.35 to pick up an individual victory on the platform at the Tiger Qualifier (Feb. 2-3), and finished 10th in the event in February’s SEC Championships.

JAN ZUBIK

Jan Zubik qualified for the national championship in the 100 back, 100 fly and 200 fly. He has owned the butterfly stroke this season, consistently pacing the field and owning times that comfortably place him inside the programs all-time top ten. More specifically, his 200 fly time of 1:40.95 during prelims at the SEC Championships soared him to second on Mizzou’s all-time list in the event, before he eventually finished in second to earn a silver medal. He impressed in the quicker 100 fly as well, touching the wall in 45.89 at SEC’s to move to sixth on the school’s leaderboards. His mark of 47.30 in the 100 back was achieved during the Mizzou Invitational back in November.

Zubik has enjoyed nine wins to go along with 12 additional podium finishes during his sophomore campaign. His first individual victory of the season came in the SEC opener at Alabama (Oct. 20), where a mark of 1:47.72 in the 200 fly was enough to pace the field. His inaugural 100 back victory came at Lindenwood/Southern Illinois (Nov. 3) by touching the wall in 48.48.

After picking up a win at the Long Course Qualifier, Zubik clinched a 100 fly victory (48.06) at Missouri State (Dec. 2). His second 200 fly victory came at Louisville (Jan. 5) by swimming a 1:43.79, before sweeping the butterfly events at Purdue/Illinois.

MEN’S RELAYS

The Tigers will also send a group of six swimmers to represent the men’s relays. Frederik Rindshøj, Daniel Wilson, Ty Spillane, Jan Zubik, Grant Bochenski, Darden Tate and Will Goodwin will combine to race in the 200 free relay, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay.

Currently, the 200 medley relay squad featuring Bochenski, Spillane, Wilson and Rindshøj sits fourth on MU’s all-time leaderboard following their 1:23.40 standing at SEC’s in February.
