COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Volleyball Head Coach Dawn Sullivan announced Wednesday the signing of transfer Kimani Johnson.

Johnson, a 6-3 right side/middle hitter from Southfield, Michigan, heads to Mizzou after earning 2022 Southern Conference All-Freshman Team honors at East Tennessee State. She helped the Bucs capture the 2022 Southern Conference regular-season title and the top seed at the league tournament with a 15-1 mark (21-8 in 2023).

Johnson registered 138 kills (1.77 kills per set) over 26 matches with eight starts. She finished third on the team with 58.0 total blocks (0.74 blocks per set) this past season.

Johnson compiled four double-digit kill matches including 13 on a .333 clip in a 3-0 sweep of UNC Greensboro on Nov. 5. She added six blocks to complement 10 kills on a .444 hitting percentage in a win at Western Carolina on Oct. 8.

Prior to ETSU, Johnson was a four-year letter winner at Cass Technical High School. She was the seventh ranked recruit in the state of Michigan in 2022, according to Prep Dig. Overall, she ranked #26 that season by Prep Volleyball.

Johnson was named to the 2019 all-city volleyball team and Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region Team. She was also listed on the AVCA Phenom list twice and the 2022 Junior Volleyball Association Watch List.

Johnson’s club team, Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy, took second at Nationals in 2021. She also spent two seasons (fall and winter) with the USA National Team Development Program.

Johnson is the seventh transfer for Sullivan after the addition of libero Maya Sands in January, along with transfers Naomi Franco, Luisa Vilaca, and Sarah White, and graduate transfers Dilara Gedikoglu and Colleen Finney.
