Sterling Scott’s Bronze Medal Headlines SEC Indoor Championships

Sterling Scott

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Missouri track and field wrapped up the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships with four Tigers earning points as top-eight finishers on the day.

Sterling Scott was the only Tiger to claim a podium placement on the weekend, placing third in the triple jump to earn All-SEC Second Team honors. His mark of 16.14m (52-11.5) is the third-best in program history. The result is the top freshman jump in the country this season and the ninth-best jump in the NCAA, putting Scott in a prime position to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Kelsey Schweizer crossed the line fifth in the women’s 800-meter with a time of 2:06.20, marking her second career top-five finish at the SEC Indoor Championships and first since taking a silver-medal finish in the DMR in 2020.

A pair of Tigers finished seventh in their respective events as Alicia Burnett clocked a 7.28 in the women’s 60-meter and Claudina Diaz posted a 1.80m (5-10 3/4) mark in the women’s high jump.

Mizzou finished 13th in the men’s team results (10) and 14th in the women’s team results (9.5).
