Steelman Closes NCAA Regional with T-3 Finish

Ross Steelman Tee Off

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men’s Golfer Ross Steelman (Columbia, Mo.) went on a huge run during the final round of the Noblesville NCAA Regional to claim a T-3 finish Wednesday afternoon. His first post-season appearance performance marks the highest individual finish in program history since former Tiger Emilio Cuartero won in 2014.

The standout redshirt sophomore started the week posting a 73 to then catch fire and card back-to-back rounds under par with a 2-under 70 and a 6-under 66. He finished with a 7-under 209, marking his sixth event under par this season and ninth of his career. Steelman’s performance was anchored by a total of 14 birdies, seven of which he sunk in the last round, and one eagle. His tie for third place also adds another Top-5 finish to his season resume, making it his third this year. He is the fifth Tiger in the last decade to finish Top-10 at an NCAA Regional under head coach Mark Leroux in the last decade.

This concludes Steelman’s record breaking 2020-21 campaign in which he led the team with a 70.24 season scoring average. He earned the honor of being named SEC Newcomer of the Week earlier this spring after winning the Missouri Tiger Invitational, as well as most recently being named Second-Team All-SEC. He boosted his career total of rounds under par to 24, with 16 of those coming from this season. The Columbia native also set new personal-best round and event scores this year with a 7-under 64 at the Legends Collegiate Invitational and a 16-under 200 at the Missouri Tiger Invitational respectively.
