Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College softball remains unbeaten after sweeping a doubleheader against Stephens on Friday afternoon.  
 
Records:
Columbia: 22-10 (12-0)
Stephens: 8-16 (3-7)
 
Game 1: (21) Columbia def. Stephens, 15-1 (5 innings)
The Scoring:

  • T1 (SC): The Stars scored first on a single down the right field line (CC 0, SC 1)
  • B1 (CC): Athena Wheeler hit a three-run home run, which was later followed by an RBI double from Avgustina Arbova (CC 4, SC 1)
  • B2 (CC): Emily King single bringing home two and then scored on a two-run homer from Wheeler (CC 8, SC 1)
  • B4 (CC): Karolina Arbova hit an inside-the-park grand slam. Taylor Barnes added a three-run bomb. (CC 15 SC 1)

 
Inside the Box:

  • The Cougars hit four home runs
  • Athena Wheeler led all players with five RBIs.
  • Karolina Arbova drove in four, while Taylor Barnes had three RBIs.
  • The Cougars 1-4 hitters scored 11 runs.
  • Lexi Dickerson went four innings in the circle allowing one earned run on three hits and struck out seven.

 
Game 2: (21) Columbia def. Stephens, 5-0
The Scoring:

  • B1 (CC): Athena Wheeler got the scoring started with a two-run singled down the left line. Avgustina Arbova had an RBI and Karolina Arbova scored on a wild pitch. (CC 4, SC 0)
  • B2 (CC): Taylor Barnes grounded out to short, scoring Jodi Polly. (CC 5, SC 0)

 
Inside the Box:

  • Athena Wheeler led the team with two hits.
  • Wheeler added a game-high two RBIs
  • Taylor Barnes, Mackenzie Kasarda, Emily King, and Karolina Arbova scored a run
  • Ella Schouten tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts.
