Softball Run Rules Lindenwood to Stay Perfect in Midweeks

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Powered by a one-hit shutout from freshman Cierra Harrison, the University of Missouri softball program (24-18) dominated once again in midweek action, wrapping up a 9-0 run-rule victory over Lindenwood (13-21) Wednesday night at Mizzou Softball Stadium.

Harrison took a perfect game into the fourth, retiring the first 11 batters she faced. She wrapped up the complete-game shutout by allowing just a single hit while striking out six over five innings.

The freshman hurler from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, got off to a hot start, striking out the side while firing nine of her first 10 pitches for strikes.

The Tiger offense gave her instant run support, as Mizzou plated five runs in the home half of the first. Jenna Laird led off the contest with a double into the left-center gap and touched home on an Alex Honnold triple to open up the scoring.

Kara Daly then drove Honnold in two batters later on a sacrifice fly.

Maddie Gallagher continued the scoring, lacing a RBI double to drive home Chantice Phillips, who reached base on a hit by pitch.

Riley Frizell capped the first-inning outburst (5-0) with her fourth home run of the season, launching a two-run shot to right center.

Julia Crenshaw padded the Tigers’ lead in the following frame, hitting a RBI double off the top of the center field wall.

In the third inning, Megan Moll blasted her first homer of the season, putting two more runs on the board by going deep to right center to increase the margin to 8-0.

Crenshaw added another RBI by driving in Honnold on a sacrifice fly to center to wrap up the run-rule victory at 9-0.
