Softball Picks Up Eight Season Awards

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the 2024 AMC Softball All-Conference teams, season award winners, Academic All-Conference team, and the AMC Softball Champions of Character Team. Columbia placed three players on the First Team, two on the Second Team, and one on the Third Team.

Gold Glove Team:

• Emily King – produced a batting average of .353, while marking a fielding percentage of .986.

First Team All-Conference:

• Tasia Green – started in all 40 games, leading the Cougars in hits (52), RBI (28), runs (30), and a batting average of .392 (ninth in the AMC).
• Emily King – accumulated 41 hits, 22 RBI, 12 doubles (ninth in the AMC) in 36 games played. 
• Ella Schouten – ranks first in the AMC in batters struck out (122), second in the AMC in earned run average (1.36 ERA), second in opposing batting average (OBA) at .224, second in runs allowed (24), and first in home runs allowed (1). Struck out a season-high of 13 batters four times this season.

Second Team All-Conference:

• Ellie Kliethermes – played in 32 contests, gathered 31 hits, 12 RBI, and 8 doubles. Ranks eighth in the AMC in on base percentage (.468). Accumulated a batting average of .395.
• Suzanna Shanks – recorded a batting average of .346 over 36 games played. Registered 19 hits, eight RBI, and four doubles.

Third Team All-Conference

• Chesney Luebbering – played in 35 games, collecting 38 hits, seven doubles, and two triples. Added a batting average of .352, while crossing the plates 22 times.

Champions of Character Team:

• Jodi Polly was named to the Champions of Character Team. Each AMC school selects a member of their team to receive the NAIA Champions of Character Award. It is the student-athlete who they feel best exemplifies the NAIA ‘s five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
