Softball Improves to 4-0 in Conference Play

St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 21-ranked Columbia College softball team is now 4-0 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) after picking up two wins at Harris-Stowe on Saturday.

Game 1: (21) Columbia def. Harris-Stowe, 26-0
The Scoring:

  • T1 (CC): The Cougars tallied 11 first inning, with two coming in on a single from Avgustina Arbova (CC 11, HSSU 0)
  • T2 (CC): Karolina Arbova hit a grand slam and Mackenzie Kasarda, Athena Wheeler, and Jaymee Stupak picked up RBIs (CC 18, HSSU 0)
  • T4 (CC): Karolina Arbova hit her second home run, and the Cougars added two more runs (CC 21, HSSU 0)
  • T5 (CC): Five runs capped off the scoring (CC 26, HSSU 0)

Inside the Box:

  • Nine different players had at least one hit for Columbia, while four of those players had multiple hits.
  • Karolina Arbova drove in seven runs.
  • Eight different Cougars had two RBIs.
  • Madison Ramsey earned the win after going 5.0 innings in the circle, allowing just one hit and striking out 12.

The Scoring:

  • T1 (CC): The Cougars rattled off nine first-inning runs, with RBI hits from Emily King, Abigail Pringer, Taylor Barnes, Makenzie Kasarda, and Athena Wheeler (CC 9, HSSU 0)
  • T2 (CC): Karolina Arbova drilled a two-run home run and the Cougars five more runs (CC 16, HSSU 0)
  • T4 (CC): Karolina Arbova, Jaymee Stupak, Suzanna Shanks, Abigail Pringer, and Taylor Barnes recorded RBI hits. (CC 22, HSSU 0)

Individual Leaders:

  • Alyssa Roll struck out nine over 5.0 innings in the circle to pick up her second win of the season.
  • Athena Wheeler went 5-5 at the plate with two RBIs and one run scored.
  • Emily King and Karolina Arbova had four hits each, while Taylor Barnes and Mackenzie Kasarda had two hits apiece.
  • Karolina Arbova drove in five runs

Columbia heads back to St. Louis, Mo. on Sunday, April 3 as they take on Health Sciences & Pharmacy (Mo.) at 2 and 4 PM. The doubleheader will be played at Stars Park on the campus of Harris-Stowe.
